There are two options for flying from Europe or USA to Fortaleza. The first one is to fly directly to Fortaleza using one of the flights listed below. The second alternative is to fly to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo or another Brazilian city, and then get a connection to Fortaleza. Please, evaluate carefully which alternative is more convenient for your travel. In many cases, the second alternative is much longer than the first one. The fastest alternative, although not well-known and seldom indicated by travel agencies, may be preferable for many European and USA travelers.

We also recommend that you book your flight as soon as possible, since some flights may already be sold out. However, before doing so, please see this tentative program. In special, notice that a Symposium Barbecue and a Symposium Dinner will take place on Friday March 16, 2001 and on Tuesday March 20, 2001, respectively. Please remember to check whether you need a visa to enter in Brazil.

There are many flights connecting Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and other cities in Brazil to Fortaleza. Please, refer directly to the Brazilian Airlines Fly, Nordeste, RioSul, TAM, Transbrasil, Varig, Vasp.

Symposium Hotel

GRACO 2001 will take place in Hotel Chalés do Atlântico (Quadra 22, Lote 1, s/n, Praia da Tabuba, 61600-000 Caucaia CE, Brazil), which is located at Tabuba Beach, about 30Km away from the metropolitan city of Fortaleza. All suites have terrace, refrigerator, cable TV, warm and cold water, and air conditioning. The infrastructure of the hotel includes swimming pools and a restaurant.

Accommodation will be arranged directly by the hotel. To request a reservation, please send an e-mail to chalesdo@uol.com.br indicating your full name, arrival and departure dates, and e-mail address. Please mention in your e-mail that you are a GRACO 2001 participant and all other relevant information regarding your accommodation preferences. For Portuguese speakers, a reservation can be requested by phone (+55 85 318 8126).

The suites will be filled upon request and hotel may not be able to fulfill your preferences. Therefore, we recommend you to request your reservation as early as possible. Hotel Chalés do Atlântico offers the following special Symposium prices, which include breakfast and taxes (exchange rate: US$ 1.00 = R$ 2,00, approx.):

Other Hotels

The hotels mentioned below are located about 4km away from the School Hotel. Transportation to the School Hotel will be provided by the School Organization. Accommodation will be arranged directly by these hotels. A reservation can be requested using their Web pages.

How to Get the Hotels

On arrival at the airport we kindly recommend that you contact COOPAERO taxi company. Please identify yourself as a GRACO participant. A special fare will be given as follow:
